Motion Control

Control Speed with the Wave of your Hand
A
common complaint by treadmill users is the off-balance experience of adjusting
the speed. It generally requires reaching forward while you are in motion and
pressing a button on the console. Not only do you have to awkwardly lean forward
as you run, but you also have to visually focus on the board. Smooth
EVO has the ultimate solution. Through our new-patented Motion Control™
you can control the speed of your treadmill without ever touching the machine.
Changing the speed is a breeze. By waving or holding your hand over the side rails
you can increase or decrease the speed (right side rail –increase; left
side rail – decrease). You can stop by holding both hands over the side
rails simultaneously. A simple solution only found on Smooth EVO treadmills. Men's
Journal - July, 2003 Adjusting
the buttons while on a treadmill throws off your rhythm, so
being able to wave a hand over a beam to increase or decrease
speed without breaking stride is a giant leap forward. Called
Motion Control, it's the best treadmill innovation in years.

Runner's World
One
thing we've always found tough about treadmills is fumbling for
the speed button - especially when you're trying to slow down
after a fast repeat. Thanks, Smooth, for finding a clever
alternative: To control the speed of the EVO, you simply wave
your hand over a light beam on the handrail.
Sounds
crazy, but it works. In our tests, it was easy to bump the speed
up or down with one wave, or to go from a slow jog to race pace
by hovering a hand over the light beam for 5 seconds. Need to
stop quickly? Just move your hands over both handrail beams at
the same time.
Another
plus: The EVO can display distance, time and pace (minutes per
mile) simultaneously, a must-have feature that's all-too rare on
many treadmills.
